Trailfactor 50K

Here are a couple of shots of me finishing the Trailfactor 50K a few days ago. As you can see I had a pacer on hand to get me over the line. It was non-stop rain, which made for very muddy and slippery conditions. It was held in Forest Park, Portland, and included about 4,500 feet of vertical gain throughout the race. Regardless of the conditions, I enjoyed every single mile of the race, and came in 30th overall (out of 130ish). I'm already thinking about the next one!

1967 Triumph TR6C

We decided that life with a bike is better than life without one. Therefore we were thrilled to find this excellent old Triumph a few hours north of Portland. She is now a part of our family, and may well prove to be the noisiest member, by far
The seller turned out to be a keen vintage bike enthusiast with a mini museum in his 'garage', owning 6 Triumphs, 5 Harleys and a BSA, not to mention a small collection of hot-rods

Happy Friday: Ice Cream

The unseasonably hot weather here has bought with it a return to Salt and Straw on Friday afternoons (not that we really stopped going there in the winter). Lucius's current favorite is  Sea-Salt and Caramel Ribbon ice cream with Sprinkles!

Basil

Lucius is very proud of her new basil plant. She tends it every day, and has placed a note next to it warning off any nibblers

It's obviously working, because we found someone reading it the next morning

Elk Rock Garden at Bishop's Close

We visited Elk Rock Garden in SW Portland. The weather here is amazing at the moment. Cold, clear and frosty. Despite the chill, the earliest signs of spring are beginning to show through

New Years Day 2013

On New Years Day we took a brisk constitutional on the Wildwood Trail in Forest Park, ending at Pittock Mansion, armed with a flask of warm adventure stew and a picnic blanket. We then spent the evening with a roaring fire, undertaking some restful chores

Xmas 2012

We spent Xmas in Ohio, starting in Toledo, before heading down to New Washington to see Elaine's folks. Here are a few snaps
